Spring 2018 RV Adventure

The Burgoyne Travels

After seeing all of the rocks at Arches, we returned the next day to explore Canyonlands NP and Dead Horse State Park. Both are about the vistas. But, they are still dirt and rocks, or the lack of dirt and rocks (canyons).

Why is Dead Horse State Park called Dead Horse? In the l800s, wild mustang herds were common in the area. The peninsula, 2000 feet above the Colorado River, was used to corral and capture them behind a 50 ft. fence at the neck of the formation. One time a herd of unwanted horses was left out there, where they died of thirst. Now you know.

The road less taken ... At least we didn't take it; should have. Our first look across a canyon.

Southeast Utah is riddled with canyons (and rocks). Another road not taken.

Mesa Arch. I had to push several people off the cliff to get a clear picture. Tourists!!!

Green River Overlook. That is the Green River down there. An amazing view. Not just any rocks.

On a clear day ...

The Colorado River ... In Utah??? Looking out from Dead Horse Point. Spectacular!
