2017 - Midwest, There and Back Again

The Draught is over! Donner Pass in the Sierra Mountains
The draught is over!!!

We are off again!!!  It is May 18th of 2017 and we are off to the Midwest ... and back again, to visit family and enjoy many sightseeing stops.

From Folsom, we found our way up I-80 through the Sierra Mountains, past Reno, NV and over to Fallon, NV for our first night stop and recombobulation.

From Fallon, we jumped onto US-50 (Highway 50, a.k.a. "The Loneliest Highway") heading east.  Did you know that if you follow US-50 all the way across the country, it passes through the Capitol District of Washington DC?  Sacramento connected to Washington DC, what a scary thought!  We traveled the highway for two days through the Rocky Mountains before heading south to Mancos, CO--near Mesa Verde National Park and also near Durango, CO--our first official sightseeing stop.

Along the way, Hickison Petroglyphs:

On the first day on US-50,we stopped for lunch and a short hike around the Hickison Petroglyphs.  I did not get any good pictures of the petroglyphs but Becky did and posted them to her Facebook page.  (Don't ask me how to get there, I don't speak Facebook.  Becky shows them to me on her computer.)
