We made it. Our first official stop, SW Utah. We parked at Ruby's RV Park in the city of Bryce Canyon, UT for four nights. The city of Bryce Canyon's only reason for existence is to be between you and the entrance to Bryce Canyon NP. The RV park was surprisingly very nice. We stayed in a new section that easily accommodates big-rigs.
Bryce Canyon is beautiful with its colorful reddish hoodoos. In the morning, we went to the visitor center for orientation and film (and, of course, the gift shop). We found out that there is a main road that is out and back, with many overlooks, and there is a small offshoot branch road that takes you to 3-4 magnificent views. We were already scheduled in the afternoon for a tour bus that takes you on the main road out and back but does not go on the offshoot branch. So, we used the morning to go explore the small offshoot.
If, like us, you are only exploring the park by road and stopping at the overlooks with short walks, then you can easily cover the park in one day, as we did. Still, very beautiful sightseeing. The tour bus added the bonus of hearing more details of the sights, the park, and other interesting facts. If you are interested in more strenuous hiking (down into the canyon) or, as one group that rode the tour bus to the far end to begin four days of backpacking through the canyons, there are numerous trails to explore. We stayed with the roadside views.
While each of the overlooks have gorgeous views, yes, they are rather repetitive as you can see.
